The Daniel Series - Encounters with Eternity.

This series focuses on spiritual encounters at the intersection between the unseen and seen realms—the invisible manifesting into the visible and eternity into time. Inspiration is drawn from art historical Gothic and Renaissance depictions of Biblical narratives of man encountering the Divine and the heart transformation that takes place during these encounters.

These narratives are framed within semi-abstracted landscapes that are familiar to me through my Aotearoa New Zealand heritage, as well as my travels within Europe and the Middle East.

This body of work explores abstraction of landscape, emphasizing and reducing the picture plane to “sky” and “earth”, while exploring religious symbolism and iconography in a contemporary context.
